Property building in Kobe Portopia Hotel
The Portopia hotel is on one of the new islands in Kobe and is connected to Sannomiya station via subway train. As such it's a short 15min to downtown. The station is directly next to the hotel and is connected to it by roofed walkway. There is also a regular free shuttle bus from the hotel to Sannomiya station. In the other direction the train goes to Kobe airport and the ferry to Kainsai airport. Although not in downtown it is extremely well located. Since it's on the island there are not that many restaurants around, but the hotel has plenty food options itself. This includes a family mart in the building, which is extremely useful. We had a bigger room and it was very well equipped, with strong internet, a small sitting area and table to enjoy the great views. The views are either of Kobe city or the island and the bay beyond it. One thing to strongly consider is adding breakfast. The main breakfast restaurant is on the 30th floor and offers even better views with a very, very good breakfast buffet. This was definitely a highlight during the stay. Throughout the staff are all very friendly and typically speak English. Overall I would say the Portopia hotel is an exceptionally good option to consider when in the area and I will definitely go again.

The breakfast was so tasty. I really liked that there were three options buffet on 30th floor, on Sunday the Teppanyaki set enabled me to try Kobe beef otherwise very expensive. It was a memorable moment. The staff were so polite although I couldn’t speak Japanese well they wer anticipating what I could be possibly looking for. Is also went once to Cafe Socco for dinner in the evening the curry and dessert selection was really tasty. I liked the bedroom with drawers and cupboard to fit in all my belongings. The view was beautiful. Although not in the center of Kobe it is easily accessible with the portliner. As a tourist I could use the three days Kansai railway pass to go to Osaka, Kyoto and my favorite place, the Biwa-ko otsukan, and I wouldn’t be too tired in the evening and have seen the pretty cherry blossom. I regret not having been able to stay for a week, Nunobiki garden in Kobe with Veranda cafe in tropical gardens is just splendid. I enjoyed tooth tooth cakestore in Kobe, the hotel and the city surroundings are really a beautiful place to stay in Japan.

the room is spacious. it is bigger than those in downtown Kobe. Also our room has a balcony which we can get fresh air and enjoy the nice view. The hotel is not in downtown but they provide free shuttle to get there which is a plus. The price is very reasonable. The hotel is close to the Kobe Animal Kingdom and you can get discounted tickets at the front desk. The hotel is also close to the Bay Shuttle pier and right now foreigners can purchase the ferry ticket at 500 yen per person which is a huge discount. The ferry goes from Kobe to Kansai airport (and vice versa). The hotel is also one of the stops of the Kobe City Loop bus and you can buy the bus pass at the front desk so super convenient. The staff is very helpful and polite. My parents and I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and we enjoyed our stay.

The hotel and the staff were very professional. I felt like I was in a luxury hotel with how it looks and the size of the room I had. It was a very good price. The housekeeping system was very good. The room vas very spacious. I even got help bringing my luggage to my floor. The location is very close to Sannomiya station which is a major shopping area there. They even have a family mart on the ground level which is convenient.

Takuya

The hotel seems to be a traditional style business hotel, staffs are professional. The room is clean and well furnished and equipped with full amenities; room size is much bigger than hotels in the centre of the city. Nice view of the beautiful Kobe harbour. There is a Lawson in the hotel shopping arcade, the train station for the train into city centre is connected to the hotel building.
